2 month

11-08-09 Thomas turned two months old and had his two month check up. He had to get shots in both legs and it was horrible, but he was a little champ! He cried when he got the shots but as soon as I picked him up he snuggled up and quit crying. This picture was taken in the doctors office with my phone before the doctor came in. I wanted to get a picture of him while he was still happy on the day he turned two months!
He weighed 10'13" and was 22.5 inches long. That put him in the 30th percentile in weight and the 45th percentile in height and the doctor was really pleased at the rate he was catching up! She said he was developmentally on track or ahead in all areas!
He was a little sore and cranky the rest of the day and the next morning but seemed to be fine about 24 hours after his shots.

Eight Weeks

At eight weeks he is getting such a personality! He grins so big when we wiggle his nose, follows us around the room with his eyes and loves for us to carry him around while we do stuff around the house. His favorite thing to look at is lights, and he just stares at our Christmas tree.

Ronnie has been off work and just had to go back on Friday January 2nd. Although he was ready to go back to a routine it was hard for him to know that he wasn't going to see Thomas for that long. When Thomas hears his voice on the phone he smiles really big and turns his head towards the phone, looking for him.

He slept all night for the first time that night, from 11:00 to 7:00 am, then on Saturday night he slept from 1:00 am to 8:00 am. I sure hope this is the beginning of a good thing! He is awake a lot more during the day and really starting to 'play' instead of just doze in our arms.

Christmas

Natalie came over and took some pictures
of Thomas!

We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. Thomas slept through it all!

Some pictures during his first month!!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was the first time we took him out aside from his doctors visit. We spent the afternoon with Ronnie's family and the evening with Rebecca's. We all felt like we had so much to be thankful for this year! It was a perfect occasion to celebrate the arrival of our newest family member!

hands and feet

I

I know it is a little cheesy, but his hands and feet were so small! I used our wedding rings on his toes and my engagement ring on his hand to show how little he is!

OU/OSU and first doctors appointment

For his first game day at our house Ronnie made sure he was decked out like an OU fan, but his first doctor's appointment we took him to he was wearing OSU colors.

His two week appointment was November 24th and he was six pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long! He was in the 10th percentile on weight and the 25th on height, but the way he was eating we knew that he was going to catch up quick!

Homecoming

On November 20th all of the paperwork was done and we got to go pick him up! We met at the adoption agency to sign paperwork and I held him the whole time we did. Although we did look at the paperwork and asked a few questions I remember thinking that at this point it didn't really matter what they said, we would sign pretty much anything as long as we got to take him home with us!!
We got back home around five and our families couldn't wait to come over and meet him! The house was filled with family and friends pretty much non stop for the next couple of weeks. It was admittedly a little overwhelming, but we felt so blessed to have their love and support. He definitely came to a place where he would be loved and cherished!

While in Foster Care

Monday morning our social worker and foster mom came to pick him up from the hospital. It was great to meet the foster mom, but so hard to watch him leave with them! He looked so tiny in his carseat and was impossible to imagine being away from him, even for a little while.

Our foster mom was great and met us a couple of times at a church near her home so we could spend time with him. He had his first doctor's appointment with her and weighed five pounds, seven ounces. He had dropped down to five pounds six ounces at the hospital, so it was reassuring to hear that he was starting to gain his weight back. The hardest part of the visits were always saying goodbye. We couldn't wait until the day that the car he was loaded into was ours and we were taking him home with us.

November 8th, 2008

Thomas Keith was born 11-08-08 at 4:19 pm and weighed in at five pounds eleven and a half ounces. He was 19.5 inches long and his head measured 12.75 inches, his chest 12.

It is impossible to fully explain the excitment that we felt on the day Thomas was born. Staying with him in the hospital was the most amazing experience! He was so tiny, yet his features were so perfect! He slept best snuggled up against Ronnie's chest in the recliner, so Ronnie spent a lot of time like that! He would only eat a half an ounce at a time, and I remember being wowed the one time that he ate a whole ounce! It truly was love at first site for us...once we had him we couldn't get enough!
