Thomas has grown so much and so fast that sometimes it
catches me off guard when I look down and realize how tall he has gotten. How is this humongous child the same sweet
baby we were blessed with five and a half years ago?
He is still the same super active kid he has always been,
with a great sense of humor and a ready laugh for anything. His giggle is contagious, and it is
impossible to keep a straight face sometimes.
He loves telling (and hearing) jokes and when he likes one, he asks to
hear it over and over again. Knock knock
jokes are his favorite, and he makes them up constantly and about everything.
Thomas started playing soccer this season, and absolutely
loves it. He scored his first ever goal
this last Saturday and was SO happy and
excited. He has also graduated to a big
kid bike (with training wheels). He is a
bit frustrated because, on his old bike, he could pedal backwards. Now that engages the brakes, but he is
getting the hang of it.
Even though he is in constant motion, he still loves sitting
down and 'reading' or being read to. He
is working on sight words (things like it, is, and, come, go) and has about
twelve down perfect and another ten or so that is hit and miss. He loves coloring with crayons or markers,
painting, doing sidewalk chalk, and writing his name and the alphabet. He can count by ones to 100 with a little
assistance and by tens to 100 all by himself.
He also loves playing board games, putting together puzzles, and playing
video games.
He thrives when we are busy, and he loves going to the
library, zoo, school, parks, play areas, and bounce houses. Anyone near his age is an instant friend, but
he has several friends that he requests for play dates. He is extremely close with his grandparents/aunts/uncles
and especially his cousins, and is always excited to see them.
Thomas loves to understand things and always has a hundred
questions about everything from what the pedals in the car do to how a grass
fire starts. He loves helping out around
the house or in the yard and putting things together. (I love that he still calls instructions for
putting things together 'constructions'.)
Fearless, outgoing and rough and tumble, Thomas is all
boy. There is also a very sweet side to
him, and he loves cuddling on the couch to read or climbing into bed to snuggle
with us in the middle of the night. We
learn something new from him all the time, and are so blessed to be his mom and
dad.
