Thomas makes us laugh every single day. He is such a happy and good natured child, yet has a definite opinion about what he wants and does everything within his power to make us understand him. His favorite things to play with right now are balloons. He looks for them everywhere we go, and we have to keep a supply at home because when one pops he is very concerned about his ‘Bloon’ until he gets another one. He also loves balls of any kind, and although he isn’t great at catching them he has an amazing arm and loves throwing them. Thomas also loves his fire trucks and stuffed animals, but nothing compares with anything outdoors!
This summer we have spent a lot of time outside, primarily in the pool. He is a great little swimmer! He recently has graduated to being able to swim with just little arm floaties on, and he does a great dog paddle! He has a ton of balls and pool toys, and as soon as we go outside he has to run around to gather them all up so that he can toss everything in the pool.
Thomas cut his eye teeth a month or so ago and is starting to get his two year molars in. He is thirty five inches tall and twenty six pounds and seems SO tall! He is incredibly independent, and tries to do more and more stuff for himself. He still tries to climb everything, and the baby gates we still have up are really more just him humoring us, because he can scale them or take them down whenever he wants.
He wanted to sleep in our bed or the guest room bed, so we moved a full sized bed into his room and he is thrilled with it! He is doing better about sleeping in his own room. Of course, he loves jumping on the bed and off of the bed more than he likes sleeping in it, but at least he likes it!
Thomas still prefers meat over anything else, and that boy can put away more steak in one sitting than I can. He also loves frozen blueberries and frozen strawberries (but only straight out of the freezer!). He rarely sits in his booster chair now, preferring to sit in a real chair, and is doing great with drinking out of a regular glass instead of a Sippy cup at meals. He is also getting pretty good at using forks and spoons, although still finds it easier to eat with his hands.
He loves to read, and constantly brings us books so that we will read to him, but also will sit down with the books and ‘babble’ as he points at the words and turns the pages. Just recently he decided that he liked Sesame Street and will sit down in the recliner and watch it while he drinks his milk in the morning. He loves all kinds of music and hums or sings to himself while he plays.
Every day brings something new he can do, a new word he can say, or a new understanding. We love watching him grow and learn, and feel more blessed than we can describe to be his mom and dad!
